Greetings fellow amateurs, the last time that I wrote in KARL magazine was at the time when SOTA was first officially opening for mountain activations in Korea. A lot has happened since that time!
Since the beginning of 2011, there has been an ever increasing number of group SOTA activities and activations, and since February we’ve been working on a way to formalize this—so, it is at this point that I’d like to announce the creation of the SOTA Korea Club! (You can visit the website at http://www.6k0fm.net) The main goals of the club are to promote the activation of mountains in Korea and create opportunities for club members to get together at least twice a year (group activations, etc). We’ve finally received our club call sign this week (after working on it for the last four months!) and as you can see it is 6K0FM–not half bad for a randomly assigned call! Listen for it on the air! Already, we have some group events planned for the near future, firstly “SOTA SOTA” (SOTA Seoul On The Air) where the eleven mountains in the Seoul area will be activated at the same time, from 11 AM to 1 PM on Sunday, July 3, 2011. We will have a “meet the activators” dinner afterwards. (NB. The weather doesn’t look good at all for Sunday, being monsoon season and all, so the event may very well happen on Saturday the 2nd, instead) On Sunday, July 10 at 1 PM after the Seoul Hamfest/Flea market, we will have an information session and Power Point presentation about SOTA at Yonsei University. If you are new to SOTA, would like to activate a mountain, need advice, or simply want to meet other activators and chasers, feel free to come! Please check the KARL Members Bulletin Board, the SOTA Korea Club website (http://www.6k0fm.net) or contact me for exact location and details. We will have an antenna making workshop, putting together a slim-jim style J-pole antenna made from antenna feeder for portable 2m operations with the scouts. Of course, I will have a SOTA table beforehand in the morning, at the flea market. Also, available at the market for the first time in Korea will be SOTA antenna flags and hiking trail ribbons (they work better than bread crumbs!). The SOTA flags will be six dollars at the hamfest. (Sales will be open to international customers within the next two weeks, keep posted at http://www.sotawatch.org) The following Sunday, July 17, the Cheong-ryong Scout group (club call: 6K0FA) will be activating HL/SL-001 Dobongsan—it will be their first official SOTA activation, and a great way to relax and get some fresh air after their school exams are finished! Listen for their call sign 6K0FA on 145 MHz after 11 AM and help them make many contacts! In August (exact date to be determined), we will have a “Daegu On The Air” event with activators activating Daegu region SOTA summits. If you’d like to activate and are interested in the event, refer to the club website for more information. Of course, later on in August or September is the second International SOTA Weekend. The exact date has not yet been announced, but we hope it won’t be a rainy weekend with lots of lightning that ruined our plans for the International weekend last month! Though 2011 started with a bit of a rough start, where DS4QBE, DS4RBM and I (pictured above) went for a New Year’s sunrise activation yet failed to activate, January 2 saw things pick right back up again (two activations that day) and only a week later, a group hike and activation up Jirisan Cheonwangbong with DS3MBB, DS3OCN, DS3OCO, 6K5ZLH and I (6K5ZLH and I pictured below). It’s been snowballing ever since, especially when spring sprung only three months ago. It’s these new activators that I’d like to take a chance to welcome: HL2OLP Chang-shin, from up in Incheon, has been extremely active on the days he has off from driving the bus. He can be found on 2m as well as 40m in CW and some SSB–he’s currently tackling the hills in the Seoul and Gyeonggi Province area, racking up points very quickly he rests only when he sits down in the Activation Zone to make contacts! (pictured below, HL/GG-015 Bukhansan, April 20) DS4GQZ Gwang-seok is a new licensee from down south in Sunchang, we’ve gone out activating together on the islands, as well as had some contacts. It’s a great way for the ham newbie to get into the hobby with SOTA! DS2CYI Dae-geun magically appeared from Suwon, activating firstly on Minjujisan a week before the International SOTA weekend, the irony being we chose that peak for the weekend! He’s continued to activate since then in Chungnam as well as Busan on 2m. He’ll be up in Seoul for the mass activation on the 3rd. Pictured below he’s at 가덕도 연대봉 last May 28. HL1IYQ Ho-gyeong from Seoul has just started activating, and up in the northern part of Gyeonggi Province by the DMZ! He has been moving around Gyeonggi-do hitting some pretty high peaks! Below he is activating HL/GG-004 연인산 last June 17. 6K5XZE Cheol-hwa from Daegu was a contact who chased me last year and this spring has finally started activating, the last month on Hakgasan on 2m. Gangwon-do being mountainous naturally breeds SOTA activators, including DS2SHC and HL2DJV. I first had contact with DS2SHC with a QSO from HL/CB-014 속리산 to HL/GW-206 대룡산 in 춘천 last August, followed by an eyeball QSO on top of HL/GG-015 북한산 in October, and lastly on top of HL/GW-001 설악산. He has now officially started activating, and we can see him atop HL/GG-015 북한산 (below). DS2NED Bo-yong based in Bucheon (between Incheon and Seoul) is an OP who tried to activate with me last year (but we got rained out and were restricted to activating halfway up the mountain much below the AZ). A regular hiker/camper NED has since then been up on a few hills, most recently Oseosan at the beginning of May where I had a chance to grab a VHF S2S with him from the other side of the country in Busan. DS1SED/4 continues to activate, most recently June 4 on HL/JB-006 Jirisan Manbokdae (below). Luckily his schedule coincides with mine many times to make S2S QSOs (but this time no!). 6K5ZLH Wan-seok started activating a few months after the SOTA started in Korea, and we’ve had a few S2S (Summit to Summit) contacts to date. However, this last month, we ascended HL/GW-001 설악산 with the Korea QRP Club. Led by HL1KKC, eleven of us started from 오색약수 at 3 AM on June 5 to arrive at the summit before 7 AM. We activated for a little over three hours before lunching and heading back down via 한계령 (see below). There were a few eyeball QSOs while activating, including DS2SHC and DS1RZP. Of course, these activators need chasers to make contacts, some of the top chasers include DS4QBE Byeong-cheon who’s already claimed his first 100 points, DS4RDY close behind with 83 points and DS1SED who should be getting close to that point sometime soon with his 51 points. So here’s looking forward to SOTA’s second year in Korea, and many, many more QSO’s! Don’t be surprised when you hear someone calling “CQ SOTA, CQ San-jeongsang-kyo-shin” from a mountain near you—call back and get some points! 73 de HL4ZFA |
산정상에서의 교신(SOTA) 생일을 축하합니다!
HL4ZFA (ex HL4/W2VLA) HL1FB, 연세대학교 이용석교수, KARL국제위원장번역 아마추어무선사 동료 여러분들 축하합니다. 지난 번에 제가 KARL지에 투고하였던 때는 SOTA가 처음으로 시작될 때였습니다. 그 후에 여러 가지 일이 있었습니다. 첫째로 통계를 보면 일년간 한국에서 104번의 SOTA활동이 있었습니다. 673번의 교신으로372점이 주어졌습니다. 이중 14번의 SOTA활동은 더 어려운 겨울에 이루어 졌으며 42점의 보너스 점수가 주어졌습니다. 운용자들은 130시간 이상을 산정상에서 교신하였습니다. 100점 이상에게 주어지는 상장이 운용자와 추적자들에게 3장 발행되었습니다.이것은 아직 젊은 우리 조직에게는 고무적인 것입니다. 우리 운용자들은 대부분 VHF밴드(88%)를 사용하였으며 HF대(SSB와 CW)도 사용하였습니다. 단파대에서는 GW4BVE와 OE6GND등 유럽 아마추어들이 한국의 운용자들과 교신하여 추적자 점수를 얻기 시작하였습니다. 그러나 대륙간 S2S(산 정상간의 교신)은 아직없습니다! 2011년 초부터 단체의 SOTA 활동과 가동이 지속적으로 증가해 왔으며 2월 이후에는 이런 활동을 공식화 하고 있습니다. 그래서 저는 지금 SOTA Korea Club의 창립을 선언합니다! (https://hlsota.wordpress.com) 이 클럽의 목적은 한국의 산에서SOTA가동을 활성화하고 최소 1년에 두 번씩의 모임(단체 SOTA가동등)을 하기 위함입니다. 이미 우리는 조만간의 단체 모임을 계획하고 있습니다. 첫째 모임은 SOTA SOTA(SOTA Seoul On The Air)이고 이때 11개의 서울 지역의 산정상이 2011년 7월3일 일요일 오전 11시부터 오후 1시까지 동시에 가동 될 것입니다. 그 후에는 가동자들이 모여 만찬을 할 것입니다. 7월10일 일요일 오후1시, 서울 정크시장 모임 후에 연세대학교 강의실에서 SOTA정보 교환을위한 발표가 있을 것입니다. 여러분들이 SOTA에 대해 잘 모르거나 산에서 가동을 하시기를 원하시거나 조언이 필요하거나 또는 단순히 운용자들을 만나시기를 원하시면 모두 오세요 환영합니다! 정확한 장소와 내용을 아시려면 KARL 홈페이지의 게시판 또는 SOTA클럽의 홈페이지 (https://hlsota.wordpress.com/)를 보시거나 저에게 연락을 주세요. 물론 당일 날 아침 정크시장에서 SOTA 테이블을 펼쳐 놓고 있을 것입니다. 그 다음 주일인 7월17일 일요일에는 청룡스카우트클럽의 6K0FA가 HL/SL-001, 도봉산을 가동할 것입니다. 이것은 그 클럽의 첫 SOTA가동이며 학교기말고사가 끝난 후의 좋은 휴식이 될 것입니다! 오전 11시 이후에 145MH에서 6K0FA를 수신하여 많은 교신을 할 수 있도록 도와주세요! 정확한 날자는 정해지지 않았지만 8월 중 대구지역의 SOTA산들을 가동하여 “대구 On The Air”행사를 하려고 합니다. 여러분들 중에 산을 가동하시기를 원하시면 우리 클럽 홈페이지를 참조하세요. 8월말이나 9월 중에 두 번째 국제 SOTA주말행사가 있습니다. 정확한 날자는 아직 정해지지 않았지만 지난달의 첫번째 국제 SOTA주말 행사처럼 비가 오거나 번개가 쳐서 우리행사를 망치지 않기를 바랍니다!
바로 이런 새로운 가동자들을 환영 할 기회가 많았으면 합니다 인천의 HL2OLP은 휴일에는 아주 활동적입니다. 그는 2m와 40m CW와 때로는 SSB를 운용하며 현재 서울과 경기도의 산에서 운용하여 빠르게 점수를 쓸어담고 있습니다 .그는 산에 올라 정상에서 운용하기 위해 앉었을 때만 휴식을 취합니다! (아래사진은 HL/GG-015 북한산 4월20일) DS4GQZ는 남쪽지방 순창에서 새로이 면허를 받았는데 같이 섬에 SOTA 운용을 가기도 했고 몇 번의 교신도 하였습니다. SOTA는 아마추어무선 입문자들이 아마추어무선에 깊이 빠져들게 하는 좋은 방법입니다. DS2CYI는 수원에서 마술과 같이 나타났는데 국제SOTA주말 바로 일주일 전에 민주지산을 가동하였습니다. 재미 있는 사실은 국제SOTA주말에 우리가 바로 그 산을 가동하였습니다. 그 후에 그는 충청남도와 부산에서 2m로 가동 하였습니다. 7월3일 서울 SOTA 단체가동을 위해 서울에 올 것 입니다. 아래 사진은 지난 5월28일 가덕도 연대봉에서의 모습. 서울의 HL1IYQ는 DMZ근처의 경기도북부에서 SOTA활동을 막 시작하였습니다! 경기도 근처의 아주 높은 산들을 다니면서 활동하고 있습니다.! 아래사진은 6월 17일 HL/GG-004 연인산 가동 모습. 대구의 6K5XZE는 작년에 저와 교신했던 추적자였으며 올 봄부터 가동을 시작하여 지난 달에는 드디어 학가산에서 2m로 가동하였습니다 강원도는 산들이 많아서 자연히 DS2SHC와 HL2DJV등SOTA가동자들이 많습니다. 저는 DS2SHC와 처음으로 작년 8월에 HL/CB-014 속리산에서 시작하여 춘천의 HL/GW-206 대룡산까지 교신하였으며 10월에는 HL/GG-015북한산에서 직접 만나기도 하였으며 마지막으로는 HL/GW-001설악산에서 교신 하였습니다. 그는 지금 공식적으로 SOTA가동을 시작하였으며 아래 사진은 HL/GG-015북한산에서 모습입니다. 인천과 서울 중간인 부천의 DS2NED는 작년에 저와 같이 가동을 시도했으나 비가와서 가동지역인 산 정상에서 못하고 산 중턱에서 운용하였습니다. 등산과 캠핑을 자주하는 그는 그 후에 몇 개의 산을 등산하였으며 5월 초에는 오서산에서 멀리 부산에 있는 저와 VHF S2S(산 정상간의 교신)교신을 하였습니다. DS1SED/4는 계속 활동을 하고 있으며 최근 6월4일에는 HL/JB-006 지리산 만복대(아래사진)에서 운용하였습니다. 운 좋게도 그의 스케줄이 여러 번 저와 맞아서 S2S교신을 하였습니다.(그러나 이번에는 맞지 않았습니다) 한국 SOTA가 시작된지 몇 달 후 6K5ZLH는 가동을 시작하였습니다. 그리고 저와 지금까지 몇 번의 S2S (산 정상 간 교신)을 하였습니다. 지난달에는 HL1/GW-001설악산을 한국QRP클럽과 같이 등반하였습니다. HL1KKC를 대장으로 11명이 오색약수에서 6월5일 새벽 3시에 등산을 시작하여 정상에 아침7시 전에 도착하였습니다. 점심 전까지3시간 넘게 교신을 한 후에 한계령을 거쳐서 하산 하였습니다.(아래사진) 교신 중에 DS2SHC와 DS1RZP등과 직접 만날 수 있었습니다 물론 이 가동자들은 교신을 하기 위해서는 추적자들이 필요합니다. 가장 이름있는 추적자들 중에는 이미 처음으로 100점 상을 받은 DS4QBE, 83점의 DS4RDY 그리고 51점이지만 곧 따라 잡을 수 있는 DS1SED가있습니다. 한국SOTA 두번째 해에 많고 많은 교신을 기대합니다! 근처 산 정상에서“CQ SOTA, CQ 산 정상 교신”이라고 부르는 신호를 들어도 놀라지 마시고 응답을 해서 점수를 받으시기 바랍니다. |
